Uv Photocatalytic Waste Gas Treatment
UV Photocatalytic Waste Gas Treatment,also known as UV Photocatalytic Oxidation(UVPCO),is an advanced and eco-friendly air pollution control technology widely used in industrial waste gas purification.It operates at room temperature without high-temperature combustion,making it energy-efficient and safe for various application scenarios.
The core principle of this technology is to use high-energy UV ultraviolet light(mainly with wavelengths of 253.7nm and 185nm)to activate semiconductor catalysts,typically titanium dioxide(TiO₂).Under UV irradiation,the catalyst generates electron-hole pairs,which further react with water vapor and oxygen in the air to produce highly oxidative active substances,such as hydroxyl radicals(·OH)and superoxide radicals(·O₂⁻).These active radicals can non-selectively break the chemical bonds of organic pollutants,decomposing them completely into harmless substances like carbon dioxide(CO₂)and water(H₂O),without producing secondary pollution.
This technology is especially suitable for treating low-concentration volatile organic compounds(VOCs)and malodorous gases,including benzene series,formaldehyde,acetone,hydrogen sulfide,methyl mercaptan,and ammonia.It is widely applied in industries such as printing,painting,coating,plastic,rubber,food processing,and sewage treatment,effectively solving the problem of industrial exhaust pollution.
Compared with traditional waste gas treatment technologies,UV photocatalytic treatment has obvious advantages:it requires no chemical additives,has a compact equipment structure,is easy to install and maintain,and has low operating costs.It also achieves simultaneous deodorization and sterilization,inactivating bacteria and viruses in the exhaust gas while purifying pollutants.
It should be noted that this technology is more suitable for low-concentration and medium-small air volume waste gas treatment.For high-concentration waste gas,it is usually used in combination with activated carbon adsorption,plasma or spray washing tower to achieve better purification effects.In addition,the TiO₂catalyst needs regular cleaning to avoid deactivation caused by dust and oil mist,ensuring long-term stable operation of the equipment.
