Airlock Feeder
An Airlock Feeder(also commonly referred to as a Rotary Airlock Valve,Rotary Feeder,Star Discharger,or Rotary Discharge Valve)is a precision-engineered industrial device that performs the dual critical functions of metering bulk solid materials and maintaining an air pressure seal between two connected pieces of equipment.It is the cornerstone component in pneumatic conveying,dust collection,and bulk material handling systems.
Core Working Principle
The airlock feeder operates on a simple yet highly effective rotary vane mechanism:
Material Inlet:Dry,free-flowing materials(powders,granules,flakes)enter from a silo,hopper,or cyclone,filling the pockets formed by the rotor's radial blades.
Rotary Transfer:Powered by a motor and gear reducer,the rotor turns slowly and steadily.The enclosed pockets capture and transport the material through the valve's cylindrical housing.
Controlled Discharge:As the rotor reaches the bottom outlet,gravity discharges the material.The continuous rotation ensures a smooth,consistent,and pulse-free flow rate.
Pressure Sealing:The tight,precision-machined clearance between the rotor blades and housing creates a near-perfect air lock.This isolates pressure differences(positive or vacuum)between the upper and lower sections,preventing air loss,backflow,or pressure drops that would disrupt system efficiency.
