A steel mill dust collector is a specialized air pollution control equipment designed to capture and purify dust-laden flue gas and particulate emissions generated during steel production processes.The steel plant baghouse(pulse-jet bag filter)is the most widely used core component of steel mill dust collection systems,featuring high efficiency,strong adaptability,and stable operation,which is crucial for steel plants to meet environmental emission standards and realize resource recycling.

Working Conditions&Dust Characteristics

Steel production involves high-temperature,high-dust,and corrosive working conditions,with dust properties distinct from other industries:

-Dust sources:Multiple process links,including blast furnaces,converters,electric furnaces,rolling mills,crushers,and raw material silos,generating iron oxide,steel slag,and coal dust.

-Dust properties:Fine particle size(most≤10μm),high hardness,strong abrasiveness,and partial dust containing corrosive components(SO₂,NOₓ)and combustible substances(coal dust).

-Flue gas conditions:High temperature(120–280℃,up to 300℃for converter flue gas),large air volume,and unstable pressure,requiring dust collectors to have high temperature resistance and pressure stability.

Core Types&Working Principles

1.Steel Plant Baghouse(Pulse-Jet Type)

It is the mainstream dust removal equipment for steel plants,suitable for most process links(except high-temperature flue gas above 300℃after special treatment).

-Working principle:High-temperature resistant filter bags are used to intercept fine dust in flue gas;the pulse-jet cleaning system uses compressed air to periodically blow back the filter bags,removing accumulated dust and ensuring stable filtration efficiency.

-Key configurations:High-temperature resistant filter materials(PPS,PTFE,glass fiber composite),multi-compartment baghouse body,pulse valve group,ash hopper,and automatic control system.

-Applicable scenarios:Electric furnaces,rolling mills,crushers,silo tops,and blast furnace secondary dust removal.

2.Other Matching Dust Collectors for Steel Mills

-Cyclone dust collector:Used for preliminary pre-dedusting,removing coarse particles(≥5μm)to reduce the load of the baghouse and avoid filter bag abrasion.

-Electrostatic precipitator(ESP):Suitable for large-capacity,high-temperature flue gas(such as converter flue gas),with high purification efficiency but higher investment cost.

-Dry-wet composite dust collector:Used in special working conditions with high humidity and strong corrosion,combining the advantages of dry and wet dust removal.

Key Design&Operational Precautions

1.Filter Material Selection

Select filter bags according to the temperature and dust properties of different process links:PPS bags for 160–220℃flue gas(such as rolling mills);PTFE or glass fiber composite bags for 220–280℃flue gas(such as blast furnace flue gas);anti-corrosion modified bags for flue gas containing acidic components.

2.Operational Control

-Temperature control:Keep the flue gas temperature 20–30℃above the acid dew point to avoid condensation,filter bag blinding,and corrosion.

-Differential pressure monitoring:Normal differential pressure is 800–1500 Pa;alarm when it exceeds 1800 Pa,and stop operation for inspection when it exceeds 2000 Pa(to prevent filter bag damage).

-Pulse cleaning:Control air pressure at 0.4–0.6 MPa,and adjust the cleaning interval and time to avoid over-cleaning(damaging filter bags)or under-cleaning(high resistance).

3.Safety&Maintenance

-Explosion protection:Install explosion vents and inert gas systems for dust collectors in coal-fired links(such as coal mills)to prevent dust explosion.

-Filter bag maintenance:Inspect every 3–6 months,replace torn or blinded bags,and keep 5–10%spare bags;new bags need pre-coating to form a stable dust layer.

-Ash handling:Ensure the hopper slope is≥60°,use vibration or heating devices to prevent dust bridging;ensure continuous operation of conveyors and discharge valves to avoid blockage.
